We're already living 2015 while the rest of you (except the Sages) are still rocking 2014. It's been a nice year so far, I hope you are looking forward to it.
Yesterday we took the train into Melbourne and spent part of the day just walking around and checking out downtown. Melbourne is a great city. Such a great 'urban' feel (a lot like Montreal) with tonnes of independent cafes (really good coffee!) and a great sporting culture. We walked down the Yarra River and saw Melbourne's boathouse row, Melbourne Cricket Grounds and Rod Laver Arena (home of the Australian Open which starts next week!).

People here are so friendly. On the train into town Ulrika met a couple of sisters from Geelong who have kids roughly the same age as ours. They gave us some great tips about the local area and Ulrika is going to hang out with them and their kids in the future. I met a couple from Tasmania who had just been to Canada in April and had done virtually the same drive we did from Calgary to Whistler in June along Hwy 99. People love talking to us because we have 'accents'. It is still very strange to be the exotic ones.
It was interesting walking around as I vaguely remembered the city and many of the key buildings, but much has also changed in the downtown core in the last 15 years (wow, I'm getting old).

The train system here for getting into Victoria is excellent. And as of today the rates to get into the city are actually dropping as our (Lara) station will be part of Zone 1. It will cost $7.54 return (down from $12.06). Cormac travels cheaper as a child and Stella and Niall for free! Too awesome...
